AirDoctor is not an ozone generator.
AirDoctor includes a built-in ionizer that remains off by default. This ionizer revitalizes the air by infusing it with negative ions, similar to the effects felt after a rainstorm or when living by the sea.
Some people appreciate this effect, but its use is entirely optional. AirDoctor operates perfectly well even if you never choose to use the ionizer feature. It does not depend on the ionizer to achieve its high level of 0.003 micron air purification.
In the past, some ionizers were known to produce high levels of ozone. AirDoctor does not generate measurable ozone. In fact, it captures ozone present in your environment.
AirDoctor is certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to comply with ozone emission limits. It’s important to note that CARB's regulation was a direct response to the hazardous ozone- generating air purifiers that existed over 15 years ago.
